Fauna from Alter and Head-Wings
July 17th, 2007
Fauna wore a hat every day for the last five days. One day is a bad hair day, two days well okay, but five really lets everyone know something aint right. What she was hiding wasn’t a botched dye treatment or a dolphin blowhole, but a pair of wings sprouting from the sides of her head. Fauna showed me her wings behind the school in a tearful confession — or was it on an empty stairwell nobody uses except for this type of thing? It’s always one or the other with these anime/video game chicks.
“Welcome to Pia Carrot,” Says Sana
February 19th, 2007
If anyone went to Pia Carrot, wouldn’t it hurt? That probably qualifies as one of the dumbest opening lines ever. Anyway, there are a few figures I still have in boxes, but decided to take a break from all of the MaxFactory and Alter figures I’ve been shooting lately. Not that this shoot is a downgrade. Sana Horiuchi is probably the best put together 1/8 scale figure I’ve seen from Kotobukiya.
Yuukanalia, a Gratuitous and Enchanting Figure
January 14th, 2007
When anime girls find themselves in a rush, late for school, an appointment, or a date, with a high degree of certainty it means they’re going to trip and if they’re going to trip undergarments will be flashed. So long as it’s in a raunchy comedy, that’s a nice bonus. It’s kind of annoying when a show that is trying to be more serious goes for a cheap flash, but that’s for another blog entry that I’ll probably never write. Judging from this figure, it appears that Yuukanalia, a character from the Enchanter manga, was in a rush and tripped on some phantom piece of sidewalk.
Melissa Seraphy, Wild and Cute
September 25th, 2006
- Character: Melissa Seraphy
- Sculpted by Akihide Muraki in 1/8 scale
- Manufactured by GoodSmile Company
- Photo Set (12 images)
Akihide Maraki’s sculpt of Melissa Seraphy perfectly blends a cute mode giant pumpkin dress with a sassy and sexy demonette. This is a fantastic figure. It is in 1/8 scale and manufactured by the GoodSmile Company. She was recently given a USA release, so snap her up now and get yourself a sweet bfigure that doubles as a Halloween decoration. I definitely believe this is a top tier figure in terms of design, sculpt, and visual appeal, an excellent addition to anyone’s collection, especially when compared with other similarly priced figures.
Flonne
July 29th, 2006
- Flonne is one of the main characters from Disgaea.
- Sculpted by Hiromitsu Morikawa in 1/8 scale.
- Released by Kotobukiya.
- Slideshow: Just the Pics (12 images).
Sculptor Hiromitsu Morikawa posed Flonne like she’s turning around to see who called her and is waving hello — I guess it depends on you if you think she’s waving hello or goodbye, but it’s Flonne so I’m going to assume it’s a hello. The way she is twisted is a little extreme and I would probably injure myself trying to imitate it, but anime and videogame characters are flexible, right? The pose is light and sweet and fits the character, so that’s not a big problem. For a turnaround of the figure, click on the slideshow link.
