Eureka Seven vol.10
November 29th, 2007
Goofy episodes in non-wacky shows, do you love them or hate them? I guess it depends on the episode or series itself, but generally I like the goofy episodes much of the time. In Eureka Seven the goofy episodes are helped out by some of the fun stuff that goes on as normal in every episode, so they’re not that far out of place.

Short Tandokucon Report
November 11th, 2007
During the drive up to Philadelphia for Tandokucon on Saturday, we kind of expected a lot of disorganization with this being the convention’s first year. It really wasn’t that bad. Fortunately, Tandokucon started out small (I’d guess about 1,500 people were there), basically just renting out half of a hallway within a giant convention center.

Haruhi had nothing to do with it, but Itsuki was there.
E7 v9, Gekko State, Combat Soundtracks

With Eureka Seven it’s a broken record comment, but it’s oh so true. Each volume gets me even more pumped than before and for a different reason than before. This time what got me were the actual events of the “Big Story” moving forward with a side of LFO.

About Holland and Talho
August 3rd, 2007
Volume Eight of Eureka Seven to me was about Holland and Talho. Sure, some big plot things happened, revealing the big bad evil plans of Colonel Dewey (just a colonel?), but evil Dewey stuff is kind of backburner to me at this point when watching this show. What makes Eureka Seven awesome to me are the relationships it sets up, literal ones and figurative ones, and how they build episode after episode. The phases of these relationships aren’t entirely settled in tidy arcs, rather each phase just pushes something else along, which with a fifty episode series there is time to have characters avoid each other for multiple episodes before they come to the table. For this set of episodes the heart of the material was Holland and Talho straightening things up between them. It’s been a long time coming.

Anemone, Pilot of theEND
October 3rd, 2006
After seeing Anemone on the third DVD of Eureka 7, I went online to find her figure. Something about her appeals to me, even though she shouldn’t, as she’s tempermental, psychotic, and a drama queen. Anyone like that in real life would be completely intolerable.
