Kotona Elegance

March 25th, 2008

Almost every day, I would suggest to Kotona that she wear a lab coat. I hear the screams out there reacting to the foolishness of the idea of covering up such a sweet body, but there’s something mysterious about Kotona and the lab coat plays to that — there’s a story behind her eyes. Of course, she could still wear her short skirts. What self-respecting hot anime girl in a lab coat wouldn’t? Hell, she’s got the pen twirl down pat. Some glasses would be nice too. Lab coat, pen twirl, and glasses. It’s a better life than that of an assassin, well maybe.

Kino Is a Traveler

March 6th, 2008

Kino is a traveler. Shouldn’t we all be? Maybe not literally. No one I know takes time to learn about the place where they live. Like when I lived in Philadelphia, as far as I can tell, 99% of the people who live there never visited the Liberty Bell until family from out of town came to visit and they had to take them someplace. Tourists would stop a resident on the street and ask them how to get to Independence Hall and they’d blink back hemming and hawing because they didn’t know where it was because they’d never been there even though they were born there and lived there all their life. It doesn’t just apply to monuments and tourist attractions, but to everyday things that have grown invisible through familiarity. Looking at familiar surroundings with the eyes of a traveler is tough to do, but it should be something to do from time to time.

Hot House Shouko-san

January 27th, 2008

Sweat arose from Shouko-san’s skin, rising up against the uncomfortable heat pouring into her room. The thermostat was broken and the windows of the old Victorian held fast. Just as well. Shouko wanted to be alone and cut-off from everything. It was a free day made for lounging. A free day just for her. Cell phone in a drawer, land line unplugged, television off, just Shouko, a soft pint of Haagen Daaz, a melting box of chocolate, and the beaten voice of Jeff Buckley swirling in the dizzy heat.

Amami Haruka from GoodSmile Co.

December 10th, 2007

The sun bleached the sand so white that it hurt to look at the beach. Everyone else already left, but he stayed behind so that Haruka didn’t have to catch up with the group all by herself. The house was quiet for a change. Actually, the old house creaked at every little thing, so if it was quiet that meant Haruka probably fell asleep or something else that had nothing to do with getting ready for the beach. He thought about just letting her be, since he liked looking at the beach more than he liked being on it, but if they didn’t show up that would start rumors which would end his career as a photographer before it got started. He’d be blacklisted for ruining the reputations of budding idols.

Yurie Hitotsubashi from Alter

December 7th, 2007

Alter seems to be making some really cute figures that are more akin to the figurines in a card and gift shop than the fan service type figures I usually get. Yurie seems a little less pastel than Hagu, but I still group her with Hagu. Glad to put Yurie in the collection. Kamichu! is one of my favorite shows.
