Portraits from Memory: Boogiepop Phantom

Posted on July 20, 2008 by super rats

I’ve been wanting to write something smart about Boogiepop Phantom for years now, but I’ve come to realize that, no, I really don’t want to. Every six months or so it goes into the dvd player and I sit and take it all in. It has to have been at least ten times through already. Ten viewings seems like a crazy amount of time to spend with a story. It is, but sometimes a story or the personal luggage that one brings to the story can support that kind of thing.

Saya Kind of Sucks in the First Half of Blood+

I burned through the first half of Blood+. Normally, it takes me forever and a day to get around to watching a box set. If I go the collected box set route, it usually means I didn’t find it worthy enough to spend the extra money to get the initial single volume releases. So box sets are usually a I’ll see it when I see it, instead of a must see this now type of thing. Getting a box set felt a little different with Blood+ since it was actually one of the shows I was eager to see.
