After seeing Anemone on the third DVD of Eureka 7, I went online to find her figure. Something about her appeals to me, even though she shouldn’t, as she’s tempermental, psychotic, and a drama queen. Anyone like that in real life would be completely intolerable.
Melissa Seraphy, Wild and Cute
- Character: Melissa Seraphy
- Sculpted by Akihide Muraki in 1/8 scale
- Manufactured by GoodSmile Company
- Photo Set (12 images)
Akihide Maraki’s sculpt of Melissa Seraphy perfectly blends a cute mode giant pumpkin dress with a sassy and sexy demonette. This is a fantastic figure. It is in 1/8 scale and manufactured by the GoodSmile Company. She was recently given a USA release, so snap her up now and get yourself a sweet bfigure that doubles as a Halloween decoration. I definitely believe this is a top tier figure in terms of design, sculpt, and visual appeal, an excellent addition to anyone’s collection, especially when compared with other similarly priced figures.
Vespateen Kasumi
The Flickrites seem to like this picture more than anything else I’ve done. I’ve had more people check out my photostream since adding this picture in the last 24 hours than I’ve had during any single month since I’ve been on Flickr (around May). It is Kasumi, though, so I shouldn’t have been surprised. Here’s Vespateen Kasumi:
Figure on Cheap Lighting
Collecting figures is a lot of fun and part of the fun is getting to show them to other people who might enjoy looking at them. Sure most of your friends will humor you, if they don’t make fun of you first, so it’s not as much fun showing off your brand new figure to them. As with many things that appeal to a certain crowd, like anime and video game character figures, sharing the joy often means going online and for that you need pictures. This blog entry is a tutorial on how to better show off your figures to other figure enthusiasts on the net by taking better photos of your collection to share.
Mai Tokiha Approves of Her Vespa
The other day I logged onto eBay to search for scaled down things I could use to make these figure photo sets a little more interesting, or at least to break up the white or black paper backdrop that I use a lot. I stumbled upon a 1:6 scale Vespa. Wouldn’t it be convenient if I had a 1:6 figure of a certain bass guitar weilder? What it did remind me of is the 1:6 Mai Tokiha from Max Factory, released early in 2006. With the way Mai was posed in that figure, I thought I’d be able to fit her over the Vespa and make it look as if she was just about ready to ride, so I went and ordered Mai as well. Figure: Shana
- Character: Shana
- Series: Shakugan no Shana
- Sculpted by Tsukuru Shirahige
- 1/8 scale figure produced by Kotobukiya
- Slideshow (12 images)
Tsukuru Shirahige’s sculpt of Shana has her kicking back and snacking on melon-pan. The 1/8 scale figure from Kotobukiya comes with a clear yellow plastic base, which I forgot to take a picture of, but it really doesn’t take too much to imagine a clear plastic disc, so you’re not missing too much by not seeing it here. One of the things I like about a figure in a sitting pose is that they usually don’t need to be attached to the base that comes with it, so there’s flexibility when it comes to displaying it. There was this fuzzy rug I’ve been wanting to use for a while from a Barbie furniture set that I got as a cheap closeout item from WalMart, so now it’s Shana’s display base instead of the boring yellow disc that came with her. The lounge chair, the table, the magazines, and the soda can are also Barbie furniture pieces. Shana does come with a spare melon-pan, however. Continue reading “Figure: Shana”
Figure: Henrietta

- Sculpted by yr? in 1/8 Scale
- Manufactured by Good Smile Company

A lot of movies, shows, and books make me sad. The music in my CD collection often makes me depressed, but I like that in music, which means I’m a gloom junkie. Being a gloom junkie, I love the Gunslinger Girl manga and the anime. Gunslinger Girl is one of the few stories that makes me feel a different kind of sadness than what most sad stories give me.
