I finally got around to filling out those Anime Blog Award nominations. Looking at the blogs I nominated it’s clear that it’s very AnimeNano/AnimeBlogger Antenna centric. I rarely visit anything outside of AnimeNano/Antenna since it’s pretty much where I go to find stuff to read. I think I’m going to have to plunder some blogrolls to find some others.

Some of you regulars probably know about the figure photo book I’m putting together.

I’ve got this picture in my head of how I want it to look and what I wanted it to be. Sitting here at my computer trying to put it all together, it’s amazing how far away that image is from the reality of what I can actually do. Knowing is so different from doing. It’s another language.

Here’s a cover I might go with and a possible name for it being “PolyVinyl Chloride”. It’s a bit more humble than I originally hoped. For this one I’ll keep it a collection of pictures, a note or two, and include another thing about lighting.

It’s halfway done, I think. Some of the pictures need a touch up to remove dust flecks from the figure and stuff like that. I am having fun with it, even if it is taking forever.

Thanks for voting. I’m going to go ahead and put a figure photo collection together. I wanted to see if fifteen people would buy one. From the poll I think there’s a decent chance that would happen. I know a 20-page book is over-priced at $11, but for low print volumes it’s almost that much to print it. There’s a little profit built into the $11, about two bucks, so that I can hopefully use that to pay for my copy. More on it as I go along.

This probably isn’t worthy of a post, but here goes. Some of my figure pictures are in or are going to be in a couple of magazines. Pictures of Ryuna will be inside MAX magazine. MAX is a Mexican magazine like Maxim and FHM, something leaning toward mainstream, which is interesting. MAX sent me an image of the page layout (see left, courtesy of MAX). Pictures I took of Pachira are in an issue of Mondo, a Hungarian anime magazine — I haven’t yet seen how that one turned out.

Can’t wait for my copies of both to arrive. I know I’ll be totally clueless when trying to read Mondo. At least with MAX I might be able to piece enough of it together, though trying to read the text in the layout page I realize just how much Spanish I have forgotten, not that I really knew much just a couple of years of it in high school and university. I think the Mondo issue already came out. Not sure when MAX will hit the racks in Mexico, but it should be sometime soon.

Okay, yeah, I’m getting depressed by the lack of PVC-ness going on here, so here’s a filler post about what I’ve got on pre-order:

I’ll probably add another 3 or 4 at some point. I really like what should be coming over the next couple of months. Going by what I’m actually buying, I guess Alter has the best line-up for the first part of 2008. Those getting all of the Shuraki figures from GoodSmile will probably disagree, plus that Chu Chu Astram is really hot looking (please dear god don’t be a trap).

How about you? If you’re only getting one or two, which ones are you getting? For me it would be Exelica or Chu Chu.
