Carene Tells Me About Black Friday Figures

Carene Hortensia tells me that Black Friday got its name because traditionally figures turn black today. She gets annoyed when I cut her explanation short, since the kind of figures she was talking about don’t really interest me — well they do, but I pretend not to care too much for money. After seeing my feigned disinterest in her discourse on Black Friday’s status as the cornerstone of American retail, she insists that I just take some pictures already and whips out The Magdala.
Vespateen Kasumi

The Flickrites seem to like this picture more than anything else I’ve done. I’ve had more people check out my photostream since adding this picture in the last 24 hours than I’ve had during any single month since I’ve been on Flickr (around May). It is Kasumi, though, so I shouldn’t have been surprised. Here’s Vespateen Kasumi:
Mai Tokiha Approves of Her Vespa

The other day I logged onto eBay to search for scaled down things I could use to make these figure photo sets a little more interesting, or at least to break up the white or black paper backdrop that I use a lot. I stumbled upon a 1:6 scale Vespa. Wouldn’t it be convenient if I had a 1:6 figure of a certain bass guitar weilder? What it did remind me of is the 1:6 Mai Tokiha from Max Factory, released early in 2006. With the way Mai was posed in that figure, I thought I’d be able to fit her over the Vespa and make it look as if she was just about ready to ride, so I went and ordered Mai as well.
