Anemone, Pilot of theEND

After seeing Anemone on the third DVD of Eureka 7, I went online to find her figure. Something about her appeals to me, even though she shouldn’t, as she’s tempermental, psychotic, and a drama queen. Anyone like that in real life would be completely intolerable.

As much of a brat as she is, the show sets it up so that I don’t completely feel like she’s 100% to blame for it. I can empathize with how Dominic cares for Anemone in spite of her abrasiveness. She’s apparently powerful, but remarkably incapable of taking care of herself. It’s obvious she’s an experiment of some kind, so I can kind of understand why she’s the way she is and why Dominic cares for her to a point way beyond his duty as a soldier — he’s a total sucker. I’ve not seen more than the third DVD, so I may wind up loathing Anemone at some point, but right now I’m curious to learn more about her.

As far as finding a figure, Megahouse released one in 2005, which meant she would be difficult to find. I tracked her down on Ebay, which for figures I use as a last resort, as it’s a dice roll with the legitimacy of the goods sold. I only found one auction, so I bought it and decided to take my chances. Quality-wise, what I got looks legit.

One of the visual details I like about the Eureka 7 series is the heavy “graphic design” elements used on the character costumes. Anemone wears a white dress with a hoop skirt that has a massive red trim. The cut, the orange rings, and verticle swath running from the strap on Anemone’s outfit look a little Star-Trek — Captain Kirk would be all over it.

I totally enjoy taking pictures of the figures I get. For Anemone, I knew that I wanted to shoot her surrounded by flowers, as her name suggests. The flowers had to be small ones. Large flowers would diminish her and my job is to show her beauty, not obscure it, so I was looking to get a who bunch of baby’s breath to surround her in, small off-white flowers often used to support the beauty of other flowers in flower arrangements.

I find women’s “boyshort” underpants sexy.

For some reason I went to a craft store instead of a florist shop and of course didn’t find any baby’s breath, but I did find some dried flowers bleached completely white. They seemed right. They were a little rubbery so they didn’t fluff like I wanted, but I thought the whiteness would contrast with a dark colored background and the pink hair of Anemone. The completely white branches and flowers feel unnatural, which seemed fitting for her. I was also just too lazy to go to a proper florist and tricked myself into thinking I found what I wanted.

I like how you set the scene a lot, you have great ideas and you do them right.

OMG one or two of the pictures are godly. The one above the words “For some reason” especially.

And I found Eureka seveN characters not translating well to figurines. The mecha however, are awesome.

I agree to a point about the Eureka figures. I might agree with you more as I watch more of the show. One thing that did translate well was the leg shape. I was thinking that while I was shooting actually.

Anemone is the best done over the 3 made by Mega House (I have the 3)

I’m waiting for the Griffon version of Tahlo http://www.hlj.com/product/GRFEU-02S she seams to be really nice, better thant the Mega House or Banpresto ones.

I’m not a big enough Talho fan to spring for a figure, but I’d be interested to see Griffon release an Anemone. The picture you link to looks better than the ones I first saw of that figure. She looks healthier in this one.

I found two copies of her at a store just now. But didn’t buy obviously. Looks like nobody likes poor Anemone.

I want this figure! Anemone is love. And you wont loathe her at any point, her character only gets better.

I also really like what you did here, you inspired me to draw someone surrounded by white flowery things like that. It’s beautiful, and does fit her very well.

Tess, they just rereleased her, so she’s available if you want to get her.

    Hope you make that drawing.
