Blanc Neige
Blanc flicked her wand and sent a squadron of snowballs to pelt the photographer. Her giggles echoed through the field as the camera man turned away to keep from being blinded with a face full of snow. It had stopped snowing a few minutes before, so everything was still covered.
“Okay, okay, I’ll be good,” she said while trying to wind herself down. “I’ll stand right here and look like a sad girl in the snow, a couple of clicks and then we can go for some hot chocolate, right?”
“Quit laughing already, will ya?”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t help it. I’m trying to be sad but it’s making me laugh. Okay, okay, ahem, here I am sad girl in the snow. The weight of a childhood promise heavy in my heart, but the boy he just…hahaha.”
The camera man looked at the magazine writer. If only she were as much of an ice queen in real life as she was when in character he could have been home already. It’s strange how often a person is different from their image.
Review of Blanc Neige from Kotobukiya
There are a ton of Shining Wind and Shining Tears figures out there or are coming out. Considering how pretty they are in 2D, it’s not surprising several companies and sculptors are putting stuff out there for collectors to buy.
Kotobukiya’s take on Blanc Neige is alright. The appeal for me comes more from Blanc’s design than from the figure itself. It fits right in with Kotobukiya standards, not bad, not great, safe pose, safely mounted with a screw on a non-descript base.
Comes with an optional cape. I definitely prefer the version without a cape, fan of shoulders as I am, but the cape does hide how awkward she looks viewed off axis to the left if standing face to face with the figure.
Other Stuff
I need to get new props. That fuzzy feather stuff is starting to become over used already. It’s so pretty though, but I think I’ve run that into the ground and winter hasn’t even started yet.
Exelica Meteor and Foobarbaz both beat me to using the purple for this shoot. So yeah, stayed away from that and just kept to the whitey white. Well, I had to sneak a little purple in the background.
And there’s this Swimsuit Blanc Neige from a while back.

The mirror pic is awesome ! Great pics as usual
So you are happy with her ? Not disappointed at all ? I hope Max Factory is going to make a better one , as their Seena seems awesome !
What is the next figure you’re gonna buy ? Yami-chan or no ?

man.. your photos always made me want to buy the figurine……. amazing photo, especially the one with the mirror..
last photo however, shows that the paint quality is not that good (at least for her hair)

Nice, I like it. It’s sultry and sexy, but not in that overdone ultra fanservice way that so many figures seem to be.

Wahaha mirror picture was indeed great. Dammit you got her even before I got mine.
MF or Alter better come up with a real ice queen.
This one is definitely a letdown after the sample. Nice pictures as always though. Blanc Neige is my <3.

Your props never fail to amaze! The tiny mirror is just precious and gives her a real fairy tale quality like the Snow Queen or Narnia or something! She’s not a figure I was sure about but these shots are almost as good as owning her! Kudos!

Am I happy with this figure? Yeah, somewhat…I know Kotobukiya isn’t on the same level as Max Factory, GoodSmile, or Alter, so I already knew I’d not be getting a top level finish, though the paint debris in her hair is like Koto of 2007 rather than how they’ve been lately. The happier change to Blanc’s face, I’m fine with, since it’s good to see a happy looking figure without the open-D mouth. There’s an understated quality to the pose and expression that I like.
With Seena up for pre-order, I’m hoping Max Factory goes back and does non-swimsuit versions of Blanc and Ryuna. Seena looks great.
For the mirror pictures, the background wallpaper is a sheet of scrapbook paper. It’s cheap, like 50-99 cents, thick enough to not get messed up easily like wrapping paper, but the downside is it’s only like 10×10 inches or something like that which limits it to close-up and medium shots. The upside is most craft stores can stock a lot of different patterns for scrapbook paper, since it’s compact. It’s cheaper and easier to find variety than wrapping paper, which is also a good background.
The mirror is a jewelry box shaped like a wardrobe cabinet. This is my second jewelry box shaped like furniture. If this keeps up, I might become a jewelry box collector as well.

Love this set of photos, especially the ones with the mirror. The expression on her face and pose make the mirror shots all the more awesome.

It looks LOVELY
Kotobukiya puts a lot of detail on their figures I see.
That’s so worth it.

Lovely pics.
The quality of the hair looks a bit dodgy?

An amazing figure, everyone “knew” it would become great when the proto pics came out. For me kotobukiya still has one flaw and that’s the hair, they still can’t compete with GSC and Alter on hair but they’re well on their way.
I agree with you the fuzzy feather is getting over used for someone who uses lots of props
. The mirror picture is amazing

love that mirror shot. What did you do for the black with bits of purple background? Looks like something with light shining from behind?

The mirror shot is amazing. Tony Taka’s art is beautiful, but the Shining series is complete shite otherwise unfortunately. It’s similar to Magna Carta with the wonderful art and character design but lackluster plot and game mechanics. RPG companies need to start hiring these awesome artists for the GOOD games, IMO.

Ha, I actually just put this one in my e-cart this week before seeing this entry. Yum. Rough finish on the hair won’t deter me; I love the facial expression and the dress :3 Love those shots with the mirror~
Do you know what, if any, differences there are between the Japanese and NA version of this figure, aside from the $20ish price difference? I ask because this figure has two versions and I ran across this Octavia figure and really liked it, but then it looks like the NA version doesn’t have the drawn-sword option, which I really think looks better.
