Murata Dilemma
Can’t decide which version to get of “Chris”, the latest figure up for pre-order based on a Range Murata illustration. It’s listed as a 1:7 scale figure, which is nice. Finally, a decent sized Murata figure. Normally, I have a clear preference for one scheme over the other, but this one is a tough one to decide.
I love the eye color and hair color combination on the more obviously Christmas themed one. I’m a sucker for the light brown hair blue eyes combo. Plus the outfit is cute. Here’s the product shot (To avoid any confusion, these pictures were not taken by me.):
On the other hand the pink haired one has the twin tails flying in the wind. The brown hair version doesn’t have this. The black and white outfit seems a little more fashionable than the Santa outfit. Here’s the product shot:
I wish one version actually mimicked the original illustration instead of each version borrowing some, but not all, of the elements of the illo. The Santa version matches it pretty well except for the color scheme. Her expression in the figure is different from the illustration, but the figure has a cute expression in its own right.
What do you think of this one?

Ahh, I’m having the same dilemma! They’re both adorable and I have absolutely no idea which one to get!
The twin-tails one is tempting for me simply because of her pantsu ^^;;

Yeah, finally a seemingly decent Range Murata figure. I’m leaning towards the nonChristmas one as it reflects his style more…though I probably still wouldn’t spend money on figures again.

A hard decision.
But I would choose the pink haired one.
TWINTAILS! and nicer pantsu.

I pre-ordered the “normal” version at first, but decided to switch to the Christmas one later. I thought it is cuter. Like you, I’m a sucker for brown hair blue eye girl.

I prefer the hair of the christmas themed girl but i like the outfit of the “normal” one including her striped pantsu more.Im not that into the eyecolor of the last one either.
Hope youll make a decision where you dont have to buy both

I pre-ordered both, but if I had to pick one, it would be the christmas one. Why? the hair.
One of Murata’s recurrent elements in his art is the short hair. More often than not, you’ll find a short cut, buns, or something that pulls the hair up (look at his other figures). In an Anime Expo panel, Murata mentioned he has a bit of a short hair fetish.
So, even if the white figure matches the original art’s color, the pig tails makes the figure very non-Murata. Heck, if I only see the head and hair, it looks like the figure is not based on Murata art. Its like a figure based on Tony’s art with eyes that do not match his style (see: President Japan’s Shining Tears figures).
Besides, christmas-themed Murata illustrations match the color theme of the red figure.
Maybe I should cancel the preorder of the white figure….

I vote for the Christmas one, mainly because there aren’t a whole lot of seasonal figures out there at all. If you have stuff on display, it would be something to switch to when you’re in the season.

Pantsu are always in season. Plus the white is so Bing Crosby.

Well, not sure how valid my point of view is as I’m somewhat of an outside observer, not being familiar with the illustrations or the character. I like the Christmas themed version myself, and it’s not just because I’m one of those Christmas freaks that loves the atmosphere, decor and so on either.
For one, the pink hair really doesn’t do it for me. I’m an anime fan, so odd hair colors don’t bother me or even appeal to me at times, but pink is one hair color that just has never worked for me. The white and black outfit is a bit bland in the second one and the striped panties are too much of a contrast to the rest of the figure. The pigtails are nice in the second one, but the rest of the qualities in the first one win me over.

There’s a lot more peace in the Christmas version. The stripes draw too much attention, agreed.

I would go for the Christmas version myself, not only cause my name be Chris also, but because she’s also dressed appropriately for the month of my birthday lol. The only downside is that she wouldn’t quite fit in during the rest of the year…

Pinky-with-stripes all the way, that’s my suggestion.

I’m a way bigger fan of the second, personally. Got to love some striped panties. Also, this is just me, but pink hair…so, so yummy.

I wish they make brown haired twin tail… but from those two, the brown haired one is better

Though I like pink-haired ones more, I’d go for the Christmas version. It’s just that appealing to me somehow

I don’t understand why hlj still don’t have the Christmas one. Is it sold not through hlj, but some other site? Maybe limited edition or what?
