My Kemeko Romance
Kemeko likes iced tea, so every night around 1am I log off the computer, go to the kitchen and brew a pot of tea. While the kettle’s on I measure the sugar, the honey, and slice some lemons got from the farmer’s market that afternoon, though I think those lemons are from the same cardboard box like the supermarket gets. There aren’t any lemon farms nearby.
I take my time with it and fill a glass pitcher two-thirds full of ice, all the while letting the tea steep extra strong before pouring the hot tea into the pitcher of ice and mixing in the lemons and sweetener. It’s not much cheaper to brew iced tea yourself and including clean-up that’s fifteen minutes spent in the making that could be used elsewhere. Frankly, I can’t tell much of an improvement over factory made iced tea. I just make it every night because it takes the edge off waiting for Kemeko to make it back alive.

Review of Kemeko 1:8 scale from Max Factory
Kemeko is a surprisingly cute figure. It was one of those borderline cases where I just was too lazy to cancel the order. Plugsuit junky that I am, I initially placed the order, even if I wasn’t entirely thrilled with what I saw in the product shots.
One of the question marks was the hair, as it is more graphic in style than it is rendered or made to represent hair realistically. In the way it came out, it reminds me of the reservations I had with the Ureshiko figure with the umbrella. And in much the same way, as soon as I got Kemeko and took photos, any doubts I had about the visual appeal of blocky hair like that were dispelled. Kemeko’s hair has strong lines to imply flow.
She comes with optional parts to join this figure, by yanking off her legs, with a freaky looking nedoroid where she pops out of its head. I’m sure there’s a story there, but since I didn’t spring for the nedoroid, I’ve got a bunch of useless parts. Because of the dual setup, the base has two holes in it, one for each setup, which is pretty poor, since it leaves a hole in the base no matter which way you go, so it looks off. Also, the legs don’t join the body all that tightly, so it looks sort of ugly from behind. Really, though, how many figures are displayed backside out?
Other Stuff
Don’t see anyone else with a review, so I guess she’s not too popular, though she might be later. I think I remember reading somewhere she’s from an upcoming show or game? Maybe I’m thinking of someone else. I’ve seen a garage kit (I assume) of Kemeko where she’s busting out of her suit. That one looks pretty sweet and I’d wind up getting that one as well.

she’s from a popular manga in japan that is getting it’s own anime adaptation this fall. i liked her design but i really didn’t see a point to spring for her since i didn’t know her character at all. sometimes when a figure is just too awesome to pass up i don’t mind breaking my rule, but when i don’t think much about her i don’t even bother really. But now i’m kinda regretting it since she looks so nice. Oh and it’s Nendoroid, not Nedoroid.

From what I’ve read on other blogs, in the manga (and presumably the forthcoming anime) she spends most of her time in a bizarrely ugly powersuit/mecha.

She looks cute but the plugsuit is a total knockoff of Rei’s. And I agree that the leg joints at the butt are terrible. I do like the photo you took with the chains, it adds an industrial touch.

That’s a cute story. You’ve at least imagined her character, some.
Figures should only be released during or after an anime adaptation has been done in order to maximize demand. I also have the rule of prioritizing familiar characters, but having to get both separate figures to complete the “set” is a bit offputting. I might regret it though, since the trailer for the anime looks funnily awesome:

great pics. I have the puchi nendoroid suit too but display them separate.
I guess when the anime comes out she will be more popular. Shes a cutie.

I am really looking forward the anime in which she appears. Seems completely crazy, and I love stuff like that.
Though I didn’t get neither this figure, nor the nendo one, for some (economic? ^^) reasons.
But I am sure I will give her a second though when the anime will start being aired.
And I hope she will be sold out every where at that time, or I will have to buy it, I think ahaha ^^
her kitty face looks so cute. But she sure has weird curves due to the reinforced plugsuit.
Two last shots = my favs

Woah I thought for a moment that shes floating in the air after i saw the second and third picture.I saw once a pic of her bursting out of the nendroid but ive forgotten where.
Her Plugsuit reminds me alot of Reis and thats not a bad thing <3
So why is she popping out of peoples mouths?
Oh and i totally love your introduction story

There nothing much that I can say, other than your blog can make figures look a lot nicer than a store’s gallery… add another entry to the list of figures I order right after visiting your site =)

I like the shot with the chain, quite cool ^^. You didn’t get the nendoroid that goes with her ?

Sorry to sound like an A-hole but her name is is actually MM. Kemeko is the name of the mecha (the freaky nendoroid) that she pilots. Anyways, beautiful photots as usual, 1st and last shots are my fav.

I really faltered on this piece… I didn’t know whether to go with it until I read the manga online and now I NEED the puchi nendo that goes with it! It’s one of those matches made in heaven when you have a context for how the Kemeko body suit and the girl go together! It’s like a comic homage to the episode of Evangelion where Asuka is forced to pilot Unit 02 in the dumpy magma diver - but in minature! It’s got a real Gainax edge and she’s a sure winner with pulgsuit fanatics for sure! Great industrial setting too! Can’t wait for mine now!!!

Haha whoops! That’s really why we need an English language site so I don’t have to find the random words in the roman alpha and hope it’s the name. If only GSC would make an English language site…oh wait, I think I read something about that today.

Definately cute. I love the pose and design. Very vibrant colors.
I have to say, though my eyes are drawn to the obvious bits. I like the fact the breasts have the ’special’ detail out on the fronts, the ecchi in me is singing opera about it all.
I like the face-ornament too, it’s like dimples, adds to the cute factor yet keeps an ecchi angle.
Len-Vesper approves this. ( -w-)/

BTW, the character’s name is actaully “MM”. “Kemeko” is the name of the robot suit thing she comes out of.
But someone already told you that, sorry haha

Before I make my move and grab her, I’m gonna check out the series first. I’m actually more interested in getting the nendo plus instead. She’s holding the roller machine gun which is super kool.
Really nice shoot. ^^d

I checked out that trailer that nanu linked too. It looks nutty, which means I want to see it. Kemeko, that ugly armor thing, well that actually looked pretty cool shooting the guns.
