I got this from Hobby Search earlier this week. I’d been anticipating this figure for a while, that is until I saw that Alter was also going to release a swimsuit Saber in 1/6 scale to match their Sakura and Rin. I thought about cancelling this one and just waiting for the Alter figure. One reason I didn’t was because the 1/8 Casual Saber Alter released a few months ago was awful, so there wasn’t any guarantee that Alter’s Saber swimsuit would be the usual Alter goodness. The other reason was I found out about the Alter figure a few days before this one would ship. I just didn’t feel right cancelling the order at that point.
Not like it was a tragedy or anything. This figure turned out to be a little better than I thought it would be. From the advertisements, you could pretty much tell the face was going to be off model, but when you position the figure in a 3/4 view it actually looks pretty good.
A little off model, but still pleasant looking. You can see the biggest flaw in the figure in the above shot. The way they joined the two segments of her arm together is very unattractive.
The picture below shows her face straight on, which is where it looks the most off. This could be a problem. It’s not a huge problem to me, as the pose would pretty much make you turn the figure so she wasn’t straight on anyway when you display her.
The prettiest angle on this figure is the back, though I doubt anyone would display her that way. Still makes for a nice picture…yeah I know I’m weird.
As nice as the back is, Sir Mixalot probably wouldn’t be to fond of it, as the scultpor has neglected to give Saber a butt. It’s really flat, flatter than her stomach flat.
Even with the oddities in her face and the lack of a butt, overall this is a good looking figure, but not a must have unless you can’t say no to Saber stuff (though at some point you just have to say no…like with the casual brown outfit versions from Kotobukiya and Max Factory). The other thing I guess I should mention is the size. Clayz’ 1/6 and Alter’s 1/6 are a little different, with Clayz being a little smaller. The base on the Clayz Saber is a lot thicker than the Alter bases, so they all are the same height, but it’s pretty obvious that the Clayz Saber is smaller.
