Kujibiki Unbalance v2

Sometimes I wonder about the collective opinion of “they”. According to that mass of nobody in particular, Kujibiki Unbalance pretty much sucks. Maybe they are right and most of the people who watch it will bleed from their eyes, but I don’t know, as blasphemous as it may sound, I think I enjoyed it just as much as the episode of Genshiken that most people are getting this dvd for.

I don’t mind the contrived plots and stupid quests — that’s one wicked student council. There’s less emphasis on the quest aspects in this volume anyway and more of what I liked, which is the strained silences and the awkwardness when Chihiro, Tokino, and Ritsuko are together. I particularly like how the first and second volumes both end with episodes centering on the three childhood friends and how Chihiro seems reluctant, Tokino forces optimism, and Ritsuko holding something back. I don’t know why I don’t rolleyes when I should with this stuff sometimes, but it just works for me here.

You’re probably better off not listening to me, but I think this is actually not bad. I don’t particularly care if it is a huge change from the original OVA, which seems to be a recurring theme amongst the criticism. Then again I’ve not seen the end yet, but I’m optimistic.

    I quite agree with you, actually. I really don’t get the KujiAn TV hate.

    it’s just because most ppl that like genshiken can’t handle the moe level of kujian ^^;

    I loved Genshiken, and in Genshiken they loved watching this lol.

    Although, I have not yet seen the first one of this series due to the bad rating on Anime News Network. But I was just wondering if perhaps its worth a watch, what do you guys all think?

    Well everyone’s got different tastes and I often find myself in moderate disagreement with ANN reviews. All I have to say is I liked Kujian and glad I gave it a chance. The level of hate the show gets seems odd to me is all.

    I loved Genshiken and have just started watching Kujian - and I actually like it too, so yeah, I think this series is way underrated as well. I’m glad you’re picking this up, and are saying something positive about it for a change.

    On a side note, I have the impression that barely anybody has watched it - back then, I didn’t watch it because I didn’t read Genshiken yet, but knew that Kujian was a spin-off of Genshiken.

    That was about the time when I started blogging, so I’m not too sure just how many/few were watching it at the time.

    peoples opinions are subjective, so you should care what one person’s opinion is because if your opinion is the one that matters

    I’ve always been one to love Kujian. Since the 3-short ep OVAs came out way-back-when with Genshiken v1, I had completely fallen in love with it. ALL HAIL BRITANNIA STUDENT COUNCIL.

    Personally Rit-chan is probably one of my most doki-doki heart throbs as far as characters go. Though sometimes I’d wish she’d lose the hat!

    I’m glad you liked it, Super Rats!

    …just noticed that I couldn’t strike out britannia. :( My joke! It is ruined.
