Sasara

Sasara Kusugawa bent down to wipe up the spilled cream, being careful not to let the frilly apron touch and soak up any of it. When she straightened up, she turned around and smiled at the old man. The old man, our boss, Master Ernst Von Groaner cupped his stiff leathery mitts around hers and thanked Sasara for cleaning up the spill his clumsy hands had made. She smiled without vomiting and fixed another tea setting.

Master Von Groaner was like the dirtiest old man, drooling over women 1/6 his age and having no shame about it. Why should he? Nobody ever calls Von Groaner on it. Is it because he breathes so hard, the air forced to scrape through his ancient nostrils and porcupine spine nose-hairs? Or is it because he is rich and donates millions — and when he dies hundreds of millions — to charity? Whatever. He is a sick sad pervert who in his elderly state resorts to hiring pretty girls to dress up as swimsuit maids to get his blood going.

At least, that’s what a lot of people think, but not me. Von Groaner is my hero. When I’m 98, I want to be just like Von Groaner and I would want someone like Sasara to be there as I slip into dementia.

Review of Sasara Kusugawa from Kotobukiya

I’m not really all that into the To Heart thing, but I do like Sasara. Not really into the meido thing either, but this is like the seventh or eighth one I got. Sasara + meido + swimsuit = where do I input my shipping address?

This is a cute 1/7 scale figure from Kotobukiya, if cute means a well endowed anime girl bent suggestively at the hip. Some might consider it a bit fetishy, especially since it combines both maid and swim wear, along with the suggestion that Sasara was posing in a chilly room. Also not sure how to describe her facial expression, but it definitely works for me. Only downside I can see of the pose and sculpt is her hair hides the top part of her backside, so admiring the curves there can’t be done too well.

Overall, the skin on the figure is quite a bit less glossy than Kotobukiya figures sometimes get. That skin gloss is one of the things that always puts some doubt in my mind when going Koto. Everything else like paint cleanliness and manufacturing artifacts are pretty good.

Sasara comes screwed to the base, probably to support that leaning forward pose, which is made to look like hardwood flooring. There’s a slot in the base to stick a cardboard background, which totally sucks and went straight to the trash.

Other Notes

Pretty straightforward with the photos for this one. It’s a pretty hot figure that doesn’t need much to distract the eye. In a bit of coincidence, because this figure has been out for a little while, Len-Vesper just put up a photo review of this Sasara as well. He’s broken out a rating thing for his figures, so go check it out.

    It’s a very pretty figure, isn’t it?

I love this figure and now I can only hope that they will release the V2 Sukumizu-meido pose to more than that super-limited 30 unit run. :S

Thank you for the linkback, I’ll definately return the favor! The photos unsurprisingly excellent, which is really making me ask just what kind of camera you use? PnC? DSLR?

very nice pictures. I saw this figure yesterday, but I’m not so familiar with ToHeart, so probably not getting this one.

Even if you aren’t familiar with To Heart, Sasara presents a couple of compelling reasons.

    Yum Yum Yum!
The Griffon version is looking nice too.

  11. Belela-san Says:

This figure is much better than the previews they have at hlj. The way her body is made is amazing, as always the breasts are a bit exagerated, her “behind” (butt) is very nice in terms of body proportions.

Wow… interesting is the word that comes to mind. She must be feeling cold. I’m also not a big To Heart fan, not like Shino of course. The sculpt on this looks pretty darn good, esp for Koto material.

very lovely shoot, I like the lighting for this one~

never played to heart as well, but love the character design :D

btw, got question, did you clean your camera lens yourself? what cleaning kit do you use? :D

  17. super rats Says:

For the lens, I just use one of those lens pen things that have the cleaning pad on one end and the brush on the other. Dust on the front of the lens is trivial. I haven’t had to clean my sensor yet. The dust buster on the Olympus dSLRs are pretty good. I do have a blown pixel on the sensor though.

have you ever tried cleaning the camera sensor? I need to clean mine =\

    oh my… maid + swimsuit, what a combo ^^
Maybe a bit too much for me though, especially her cup size and those b-chiku.
Funny introduction hehe. Von Groaner is sure a hero!

  25. Adun Says:

I was really tempted to buy this myself, but I’m a big fan on the whole swimsuit factor. Though I would really love to get a Sasara figure. Great photos, still trying to get the same kind of lighting effect myself.

  27. super rats Says:

Adun, I used one light and a reflector to light Sasara.

Lu-k, after the blatant posing on Franco Nero, how can the lovely Sasara be too much?

Ron, the self cleaning routine on the Olympus E500 really does a great job keeping the sensor clean, so I don’t have to clean it manually.

Belela-san, the bottom is shaped well. On many figures the bottoms tend to be on the flat side, so I always like to take a shot of one that’s shaped nicely.

Radiant, one of the better Koto figures I have when it comes to the overall finish.

Len, I use an Olympus Evolt-500, a dSLR.

Gordon, definitely a worthy outfit. ^^

Danny, if it’s Griffon it prolly means some nice evil going on…off to investigate.

Rain, sometimes a declaration of winnage is all one needs.

Hot figure. Hot photos. I’d buy it if it was cast-offable.

  31. JF Says:

    Ah, an Olympus!

The Digital Rebel XTi comes with a microvibration dust remover for the sensor, so I don’t run into the problem of dust on sensor area. However, a blown pixel? That really sucks. :/

I’ve heard of firmware style programs that manufacturers use to force a reset of all pixels on a sensor (sort of like the partisan color reset programs used for LCD screens),

Another great photo shoot, the black really does make it seem so sexy~ :3

  35. super rats Says:

-I didn’t check if it Sasara was a caster, but it’s Koto, so probably not — I don’t think they have any, but I could be wrong on that.

-I’ll have to see about the pixel reset thing, but it really doesn’t bother me. It’s not noticeable. Most of the time I don’t even go in and heal the dot on the photos.

-Sasara is quite the looker. The Griffon version is tempting too.

As usual, your photos never fail to impress!! ^__^

  39. AS Says:

Maid+swimsuit+seductive pose=WIN. This figure looks great and I think it’s for the better that it’s not cast-off ^^;; I rather it remain a sexy girl in a outfit that really tempts you to buy it in the first place than her going “cast-off” on you.

I’m loving this pose! But I’m probably too modest to actually own anything this ero ^__^
    Great shots, as usual.
