The Egg and I

This was me last night:

Wait. I think this shot is more accurate:

Look at Jet chomp down on all those eggs!

So last night I realized that I had almost a full carton of eggs set to expire in a few days, so I hard boiled them all. Sometimes when I’m chowing on hard boiled eggs I think of this scene from Cowboy Bebop. How do they eat so many hard boiled eggs without anything to drink or is swallowing their man-tears beverage enough?  Food seems to trigger memories.

And included just because I like pretty sunsets:

“The Egg and I” is actually probably my favorite track on the Cowboy Bebop OST. Go fig. :P

Haha yeah I also wonder how they can eat so many eggs wihout anything more to help swallowing ^^
    That’s impossible!

Foods and animes… this is a true love story ;)

Hehe, I admit having to go the same route sometimes. I like eggs, but I just don’t eat ‘em that often. That carton sittin’ in my fridge has a tendency sneak up to the expiration deadline without me noticing. When I finally realize it, it’s time for a friggin’ chowdown.

Anyway, that scene was great…really reminded me of the ‘egg-eating’ bet from the movie Cool Hand Luke (which is also excellent, btw).

My favorite tracks are pretty typical with Green Bird, Waltz for Zizi, and Space Lion, but really I like almost all of the tracks.

    Bebop is indeed good times.

I usually get the hiccups when I eat hard boiled eggs because I usually forget to have a drink ready.

Cool Hand Luke is a classic.

Cowboy Bebop, nostalgic ^^. I honestly don’t like to eat boiled eggs, but put it in another form, like raw with a beef bowl or sunny side up, and I can eat it no problem. I think its the texture of the boiled yolk and the taste of the egg white that gets to me.

Do not ever hardboil your eggs! It’s the worst way of cooking it, in terms of texture. Not to mention the reeking of hydrogen sulphide at the contact layer of the yolk with the albumin, when the egg is overcooked. And the ferrous deposits that make it go green.

On the other hand, it is the healthiest way to cook it I suppose, since it does kill majority of the bacteria which might have been in or around it, as well as not requiring any condiments or oil. Unless you eat with lots of sauce.

Personally I prefer a good fried egg sunny side up, crispy white with runny yolk. Otherwise a half boiled egg is fine too.

Well, then don’t overcook them. Simmer instead of violent boil them and you avoid the green around the yolk.

I prefer the sunny side up as well, but boiled eggs can be good for a few days and handy as a snack, which compared to most American snack foods isn’t that bad for your health. Plus it’s nice to have some handy for a ramen add-on. :)

I love hard boiled eggs and eat them a lot. That episode recently aired on Adult Swim, and I was shocked that it still effected me (I cried :p ).

One of my favorite Bepop episode, or perhaps my favorite, there are just so many good ones.

Great post! Nostalgic is right… *sigh*

I take boiled eggs with a runny yolk, slice them over noodles… yes sir.

    Cheers to boiled eggs!

I’m giddy that people actually read a post about egg boiling.

I do have to agree that “Hard Luck Woman” is one of my favorite Bebop episodes — had to include the sunsets here. Plus, features quite a few of my favorite songs from the show too, Waltz for Zizi, Call Me, and Wo Qui Non Coin.

It’s one of the saddest episodes ever. and now because I have read this, I’m going into my kitchen to make hard boiled eggs and I might even put in my dvd of Cowboy Bebop. Thanks HappySoda. ^__^
