Escalayer from Alter

Good stories often invoke one of the golden rules, such as, bad things love good people. Ero anime takes this rule to heart. The female ero lead is among the nicest and most altruistic souls, so naturally the worst of the worst happens to her all the time. She’s so nice that she waits for the monster to finish before fighting back.

The entertainment value of watching a character like Escalayer get done for the sake of comedy and erotic gratification is kind of weird. While it sounds horrifying that people are supposed to laugh when Escalayer gets probed by a tentacle beast…it is actually kind of funny, which is a little disturbing on some level, but I’m not losing sleep over it.

There are many situations that make me wonder how did we as humans get here. The ero market in Japan is definitely one of those things. It may not seem all that far out now, but at some point, believing there was a viable market for tentacle invasion comedies was about as far out of the box thinking as there was. Can you imagine the debates that raged in that board room as people with many whacked out ideas made their pitches? You know the egg guy is still bitter that his idea was backburnered for years.

If I were in still in college I’d probably use ero anime and games as an essay subject for a women’s studies class. Though now that anime is more popular, essays on anime have probably been done to death already. I can imagine at the start of the semester TAs and professors of gen ed classes taking bets on how many anime papers get turned in. Anime fans really get into the hobby, so they probably write better papers, or at least sound more interested and interesting.

All that aside, does anyone find the Escalayer design sexy? “She’s hot” isn’t what I think of when I see the Escalayer character design. I wonder if Japanese fans of Escalayer get all randy just by looking at her, like is the costume really a turn on? I think the willingness of Japanese artists to take cute and bend it to sexy makes some westerners uncomfortable with the anime thing. Americans are more inclined to treat cute and sexy as distinctly different concepts.

Anyway, I still don’t see the Escalayer design as anything but kind of funny, off-beat, this is definitely not westerner stuff sort of way. Japanese character designers just love sticking random handkerchiefs on some girl’s head.

Review of Escalayer by Alter

If I had it to do over again, I most likely wouldn’t buy Escalayer. Not that it’s defective or a bad sculpt, it’s rather nice in the Alter way all bright and colorful. Confident sculpt and mold that always seems more definite than everyone else. Just I don’t find her sexy, elegant, or find myself saying awwwww she’s such a cutie-patootie.

Most figurines I get because I like the character design, but I’m not much of a fan of the Escalayer design, so I scratch my head and wonder why I ordered it. It was probably during that slow period and I was going through some polyvinyl chloride withdrawal which made me get something I’m only half interested in.

Still, I’m sure Escalayer has fans and for them this is probably a good bet. Nice detailed sculpt. If you like belly buttons, Alter reprazent!

Was it bad that I was thinking “I would just love to fuck the shit out of Escalayer” right as I read:

“She’s hot” isn’t what I think of when I see the Escalayer character design.

Haha. Oh man. Would I buy the figure? No. Not that big a fan, but I dunno, she just looks really sexy in the pictures you took there. Admittedly, I don’t remember the hentai all that well to comment on the origins. Better than a lot of stuff, but nothing groundbreaking.

Still, super tight outfits and slightly tight leg accessories get LE MOTOR to LE RUN. That’s some French sophistication there.

I’m a horrible pervert, I guess. Nice low angle stuff, rats-kun. Very classy.

I like the blue background that you use, simple and elegant ^^ last picture is kinda cute

Nice looking figure, sculpt wise. She does have a cute face but her body motion is saying to me “Hey big boy, look behind me, theres a tentacle beast”. Not something I would want, of course I was never a fan of tentacles.

Randall is always sophisticated French and moderation queue friendly. :)

Yeah, the last shot is meant to be cute.

I like this figure but she’s a bit expensive , the only thing I have against this figure is the panties, thankfully you didn’t took a picture of those especially the front cause the rear is ok.

Yeah the bulge in the front is a bit over emphasized.

love that last shot, very cute. I almost got this figure but after seeing the bulge in shino’s photos of her I decided to skip her

Those wacky Japanese and their handkerchief head bands :D

Really beautiful pictures ~ that last shot is especially cute.

I can’t look at this figure without thinking about how much her breasts must hurt. That is to say, personally, I’ve had the unfortunate experience of trying on shirts and such that were too small in the bust area, and… to sum it up: sheer pain.

That aside, yeah, I’m not really crazy about this figure either. Great pictures, though; the Cinnamoroll shot is adorable. :3

    Ah, healthy Escalayer~
My friend ordered it, I was also tempted but I had to hold back since my cash pool is starting to dwindle… Plus I kinda agree when you said it doesn’t really… “appeal” even though in all rights it’s a great figure.

Love the last three photos XD
    Great photos as ever~

Definately lovely but just not my type of figure. Skipping this one too.

There is a bit of a squeeze there, Marmot. It makes me wonder too about some of the older styles of dress where lots of things were scrunched and bunched to form the body, corsets and stuff like that.

And she seems well balanced, Kurogane. Always nice when they can stand without the base, which isn’t a guarantee against warpage since a misaligned base can mess things up, but the base here seems to fit well.

Perhaps most Asians find her to be sexy…I was tempted after looking at Alter’s images but I find the real product to be a bit different. She looks good in your photos though. I just noticed that her hair looks like Medusa especially from the top.

I saw pics on Moeyo with her casted off and her waist looked really odd.

Tentacle porn has been around since the 1800’s - I mean, Hakusai was making woodcuts of that stuff. And that guy invented manga.

I’m not really surprised by the genre diversity anymore. I thought after watching anime about bread, I’ve seen anything. It’s just that the japanese turn anything into anime.

The figure itself is not my type. Yet I do like the shot of the bellybutton^^

I really like this figure even though i won’t buy it….If memory serves, she’s topless in the anime right? i wonder why they didn’t bundle the figure with a “naked eyes” set…especially with the price tag :/

as always, nice pictures Mr Super :)

The last pic is soooo cute.

Even though her pose fits the character, I still find it too boring, they should give her more life.
