Come See the Himekuri Girl
May 1st, 2007
“See the Himekuri Image Girl,” said the barker to all passerbyes of his yellow and purple striped carnival tent. “Gentlemen, don’t miss this beauty straight from Kaiyodo!”
In this day and age, anything tagging itself for “gentlemen” infers something lurid, so of course our hero bought a ticket. The barker gave him a wink and held the tent flap open for our hero to pass through to peek at the Himekuri Girl. Our hero believed himself different from the other men in the tent who pointed at her with their dirty hands, nudging their buddies when she flashed, and gnashing their stained teeth in a hungry grin. No he was not like them at all, for his heart was in his throat.
Inside the tent a pure angelic light bathed the Himekuri Girl, a stark contrast to her stage performance. An overwhelming desire to rescue her overcame our hero. She deserved more than being a cheap thrill, he thought. Unfortunately for our hero, he did not know what he could do to rescue the Himekuri Girl.
He came back and gave her fruit.
He came back and gave her flowers.
He came back and just watched. There was nothing he could do.
Review of Kaiyodo’s Himekuri Image Girl
If only our hero knew what an amazing bargain the Himekuri Image Girl was he wouldn’t have been such a sap. While the skirt-lift pose is on the trashy side, it is undeniably a very nicely scupted well manufactured PVC figure, that at least for the US release unbelievably costs half of what a figure this grade typically goes for. US releases for Kaiyodo figures are often significantly cheaper than they are in Japan.
Really, the only thing I see as a letdown is the groove on her tummy. It’s kind of a typical rendering for an anime girl, so it isn’t too bad. I mean given the other unrealistic points like eye size, head size, torso thickness, etc., how much can one really quibble about an unrealistic tummy and belly button?
It’s cheap. Well made. Well sculpted. Highly recommended if the look appeals to you. It’s not really my style, so I took off the Highly Recommended tag that I had on it at first, but if it fits your tastes it definitely is worth picking up.

Woah. Nice and elegant pics. The real figure really isn’t that great though.

I have this figure as well. But I find the black one to be better looking, just that I kind of ordered this after not getting the black one whilst I was in Japan and so the white one came out instead. A cute figure, but not really a good one. Good pics as usual. I should get off my lazy ass and take photos.

A little trashy, but cute at the same time. ^_^

Oh yes. Wallpaperised. Thanks!
Those who claim the real figurine isn’t good hasn’t bought one yet. It is surprisingly well-done. Realism isn’t what figurine collectors should always look for.

Wallpapered the flowers one like whoa *_* Gorgeous pictures as always, and am pleasantly surprised at the quality.

I can understand not liking the figure or the style, but I thought the quality was quite high. Almost no paint debris, no glaring mold lines on the skin or stockings, etc. Maybe the later runs of this figure improved quite a bit or maybe my Chinese laborer was in a particularly good mood putting my Himekuri girl together.

nice shot, I like the one with flower. and where did you get those small things… did you make them yourself? those small apples (or maybe small tomato?) are cute.
You need to take more landscape photos, so we can use them as wallpaper ^^

Very cute figure, I will look around for it, thanks for mentioning the price being lower in the U.S., makes me want it more. I like the little fruits you added. I definitely like the amount of detail in the wrinkles on the clothes makes it more “life-like” to me. I agree that the skirt lifting is not really that appealing, maybe if she put her hands down on her skirt instead of up would be better, yet still show her panties if you look under her figure would give it that ecchiness, but not really needed in my opinion.

I have her displayed with the fruit, it sort of gives her a reason to have her lifting her skirt.
Those small apples is just another prop recycle. I pulled a couple of the berries from the garland around Melissa Seraphy and I had apples.

Funny you posted a review of this figure, as I just got the black/original(?) version last week. Pretty much agree with your last statement. No (US) figure collector can do wrong adding this figure to their collection considering the quality sculpt and price point.
Definitely one of my better purchases for the year

Overall, the black one will probably look more elegant than the white one, but the white one had purple hair! ^_^
And Danny, there’s nothing wrong with small eyes.

I’ve had too much purple hair as of lately (Feena, Sakura). I would rather go for the christmas(Red) version instead. For some reason, that rainbow thing on her head bothers me. Nice touch with the fruit.

I like the red one. Too bad it hadn’t yet been released for the US…I think I might have gotten that one if it had been.
