Rindou Rina comes from a game called Pastel Chime Continue and judging from the staff she carries it looks like she’s a wizard of some sort. This is a very cute 1/8 scale figure sculpted by Tokunaga Hironori and produced by Alter. I always look forward to opening a new Alter figure, because something about it is always going to be awesome.
Rina probably has a tiny fanbase among US fans, so I don’t imagine her to be a big seller here, but she is going to be sold domestic US just because she’s from Alter, which is enough of a reason for any collector to consider adding her to their collection. It’s the only reason I got her. That and she looked cute. I hope this pictorial shows off the sweetness of Rina. For an anime girl figure, the whole presentation of Rina is tastefully done.
No gimmick for this pictorial, just an orange background to compliment her eyes, which are this gorgeous shade of green. I did have a gimmick picked out for Rina, but when I got her out of the box and looked at her I felt like really keeping the focus on her and working on composition to generate interest.
Quite a few things push this figure into the excellent category, such as her cutely energetic pose. Rina leans forward while she clutches her staff behind her. Her head is tilted to the side and she has a cheerful expression like she’s greeting you, “good morning sempai.” It appears that a breeze has caught her hair and lifted the tails of her sleeves and cape like thing.
This is a very well balanced sculpt as she easily stands without her base, which is a pink hued transparent disc with double pegs for each foot (not shown). Alter did an excellent job in reproducing the garment details created by the scultptor. The tension folds on her skirt totally rock. Check out her hair as well for detailing and overall shape.
The paint shading is better than a cup of hot chocolate on a cool autumn day. Alter deserves much applause for the shading on their figures, making them appear luminous in even the most ordinary of lighting conditions. Rina shares that luminous quality. The shading on her stockings really captures the way hosiery holds light and shadows where it bunches up and where it’s stretched thin.
However, Alter has a tendency to have one part on their figures that is a dud. The fangs on her animalized apron face have an extremely sloppy application of white paint and the buckle paint is also pretty sloppy as well. Not only that but, on her top, where the blue meets white is a little fuzzy. It’s still pretty neat, but not razor sharp like I’ve grown accustomed to from Alter.
I’m a big fan of this figure. A cute girl, a balanced pose, crisp detail, superb shading, what’s not to like? It’s not all that gratuitous for an anime/game bfigure, which I find appealing as a change of pace. I like my ecchi, but I also like cute just by itself, though I have no illusion about nekkidness in the game Rina comes from, as is the case for many of the prettier figures. I don’t actually know, having never seen the game, but odds are there’s some action.
Now that I see a whole line of pictures with the same background, I think I should’ve use two different colored backgrounds to break them up a little.

I agree about Alter, they’re doing really great figures !
I preordered but cancelled Rina. I figured I don’t need more figures of characters I don’t know. And yes, Alter is unbeatable at the moment.
I’m starting to run out of shelf space myself, so eventually I’ll have to become a little more picky instead of just anything that looks cute.
Another great figure, and another set of great images. =) I’ll just chime in and add to the agreement that Alter is one of (or possibly the best) PVC company at the moment. My favorite is still their Garnet 1/7 PVC figure from earlier this year.
It’s hard to pick, but my favorite from them is Hikaru, though when Nagi comes out…
Lol, I realized that I slotted my staff differently from you- the head’s on her right side. A quick check with my HCG set shows one of the HCG shows her holding it with her left hand, so it seems like you gotten it correct.
I guessed correctly then. Actually, I had started to put it in the other way and it wasn’t going through easily, so I tried this way and it worked.
Why don’t you try out the pumpkin Melissa too. I’m interested in seeing what kind of pictures you’ll come up with.
I already have a photoset with Melissa or are you saying I should do something like I did with Melissa with Rina?
It worked opposite for me, sticking in the other way was difficult, so I went with the right hand first, Lol.
rats >> Yeah that’s what I meant.

Those demanding the “bonus low angle shot” should check out the Anime Desho Desho? link. Awesome stuff.
Tsubaki >> I second that.
It was about time to change the theme I was using. This one is called Freshy, which sounds terrible, but it’s a nice theme.
