Seena was too nervous to sit. She already had her sword drawn, feinting here and there at the dark. I told her to sheath it. It was likely that we’d be waiting long into the night and her arm was going to get tired. Any orcs that come wouldn’t be showing up for at least another hour, besides we were just a containment unit. If we were lucky, nothing would come by. I sat on the steps of an abandoned temple and kept watch of the road that was lit only by the light of the moon. We don’t talk much and mostly just wait. They usually stick rookies like Seena to me, because I don’t take it personally when those under my wing die. It’s a shitty thing to be known for.
Figure Review: Seena 1/7 Scale from Max Factory
Seena is for stripes fans. With a skirt that short and that pose, it’s one of the primary features of the figure. Overall, it’s very attractive. I like poses where you can see both the face and the backside.
The shoulder cloak type thing has a great flow. It’s really one of my favorite parts of the sculpt. Can’t say I’m a fan of her boots though. The design of them seems to contradict the emphasis of the pose on her legs — it takes the curves right out of them. Okay, the real emphasis is on her striped ‘wear, which barely teases out past her hemline if I look while sitting at my desk where Seena currently rests.
I love everything above the knees. The boots definitely knock it down a peg.
Other Stuff
Seena’s been out for a while, so I didn’t kind of ignored that the heavy shadows of some of these shots hides parts of the figures, but I think there’s enough ‘lit’ shots to see Seena. If you’d rather see everything in the light, then check out Foo-bar-baz or Exelica Meteor.
The panchira image is usually one of the ones I have the most difficulty with deciding whether or not to include it and which one to include. Usually there’s a number of angles and lighting directions to choose from with varying levels of thank heaven for macro lenses!!! Today I went with the slightly more obscured and less macro panchira. Kind of like how the light stops just short of the pantsu.

Those stocking are a little weird along with the boots. I don’t think I’ve seen stocking like those before.
What great shots! What type of camera are you using? I have read from a bunch of blogs about using 3 light sources and a photo box. My husband is looking to invest in another camera and was looking through blogs of figures – which we collect and would love to review – that had really nice light sources and clearness to the photos.
My Seena hasn’t arrived, so I don’t know what is going on with the delay. A store near me has her in-stock and if they have a sale, I’m tempted to get it over there, but I don’t feel right canceling my order. Seeing your shots makes me wish I had my Seena with me already^^
Adun, do seem weird, but I’m sure it was designed for maximum inner thigh exposure.
OneandonlyJem, I have some tutorials in the Tutorial category. For this shoot, the really dark ones used 1 light (the video tutorial should show you how I did that) for the lighter ones two lights. I use an Olympus Evolt 500, pretty ancient by digital SLR terms. Pretty much any camera save for the most ancient or ultra cheap is going to give you good results.
It’s crazy because the really dark butt shot almost looks real >.>!
Lovely photos which are real pleasing to the eyes. I don’t take pantsu shots of my figures as well unless it is so blatantly sticking out, like this one is. ^^” This Seena figure is top quality, especially if you compare to Koto’s version.
Maybe some gold trim & cream color on the boots is my suggestion. I liked the chest plate & the silver lining on the coat on Foo-Bar-Baz blog. It’s too bad about the seam line on the head though. That always distracts me.
- I’m glad you have the old blog back super rats, I much prefer it. ,I hope you learnt your lesson. : O ….. : )
Lovely photos as usual. It’s interesting to see photos with lack of light and it focuses on certain parts of the figure. Very creative ^^
Seena is one of those figures that the face is a total win and the rest is a bonus. The paint job seems great especially in the hair. I’m still trying to do dark shots in a complete dark room with only one light but I still have problems
bigearl, these guys who sculpt these things are awesome, aren’t they?
ELTboy, yeah it’s pretty blatant. While I’m sitting at my desk, it’s always a panchira moment.
Saku, thanks.
Belela-san, you don’t need a dark room. The darker ones were actually taken in the morning. The lit ones were taken at night. Easiest way to do this is get something to block the light so it doesn’t shine on your BG. You just need the backdrop to be EV -2 or -3 relative to the subject, depending of the color of the BG. Letting the camera meter the light, the last shot was set to EV -1.7, because I wanted there to be a hint of green, whereas the second to last was at EV -2 (contrast was adjusted in PSE to emphasize the shadows).
The play of light, and colors create a very beautiful atmosphere. I find your shooting really very good, and I always like the atmosphere which you establish with your pictures.
On the other hand, I don’t like the figure. Seena is not a character whom I appreciate, and I don’t find her charm (maybe it is the pose which saddens me?). In any case, a beautiful realization of the publisher ^^
Thanks for these picture and congratulation!
Woo, it’s the most well made Figure this character.
Max Factor is the best !
Why you back for the old site layout ? The newest was more clean.
The blatant shot definitively caught me by surprise, considering that Tony’s original art shows no stripes at all. Personally its a bit of a turn off, especially when put next to Kureha. Initially I imagined Max Factory would tone down Seena’s leaning a bit, or make the skirt a bit less short.
Still, this is a Max Factory sculpt, and is very good. I’ll just have to be make sure to put the figure in one of the shelve’s lower levels ^_^;;
super rats: your pictures are amazing as usual. The way you play with lightning and shot angles is something that no camera technology can compensate.
Really awesome shoot!!!!!!!
I might get her…as soon as I get another budget for buying figures…as most of it went to my Japan budget…
I do love the shadowing on a few of these photos!!!
nice photos, love the shadow pics
I dont really find anything wrong with her stockings and boots tho, seems okay to me =\
hmm I may get this one, since I already have Kureha.
very cool pictures. I liked the last one. Cool efect you did in there.
that figure is nicely made and the shadow effects are awesome. do you happen to have a tutorial on how to make the shadow effects like that?
There’s a short video on doing this in my tutorial section.
Nice work as always Rats!
Im sooo glad that i waited with her purchase and got her now for 30% off from HLJ
Love her teasing pose
Seena is one of my fav figures , she’s awesome and the painting from Max Factory is flawless !
Love what you did with the lightning in this shot , great work !
And thanks for the link , as always
Wow awesome lighting effects, the dark atmosphere really reflects off her warm colors, and the paint job is awesome but I agree with the boots :/
oh, love the striped pantsu especially if their blue ^^
I’m generally a shimapan fan so I can’t complain, but I especially like the shadows you used. It obscures some parts of the figure but the contrast is nice.
