It was such a great night, she had to call May, but May’s phone went straight to voice mail. She sat on her bed and had slid her tight jeans down to around her knees when she was prompted to speak. Her feet were cold and felt good trapped inside the still warm pant legs. She tilted back, lifted her legs, and plopped her whole body onto her bed.
“Hey, May. It’s me. I just got in. We all miss you. Are you coming back during break? Anyway, there was this party and the house got so trashed. I felt bad, so me and Trina decided to help clean up. Kasey was there too. She’s doing okay, but her wardrobe is malfunctioning. She needs your help, May. You’ve been away forever. I can’t believe it, May. Next year it’ll be us who’re going away. I still haven’t decided where yet. I got in at my top choice, but I don’t know, it’s so far away. Anyway, hope to see you during the break. Bye.”
Unity May Review
Eroge games spawn great figures. May looks like a stand-offish type of girl. Her face is in a scowl. Don’t get any closer. Her flowing robes guard her in a fight or they give her flight should May want to get away. Those robes are stunning in the way they surround her to add to May’s appeal without dominating or distracting from her. Her entire costume is like that, perfectly framing the character’s features, wherever you decide to look. The balance between an interesting costume and character itself is outstanding.
The only part that doesn’t look great is where her robe wings attach to her back. The seam is a pretty wide gap, but from the front, there are no construction compromises to ruin the image of the angsty May.
Other Stuff
One of the reasons I wanted to switch to a lighter weight theme was I’m thinking of moving away from Flickr. Their image servers are very fast, but their image size presets aren’t as large as I’d like. I wanted the medium size image to be a little larger (450×600) than they are on Flickr (375×500). Now that my home monitor is 1920×1200, the Flickr sized image was starting to look a bit small. Still, Flickr is mighty convenient and serves images faster than my website host does, so I may stay with Flickr anyway. This post is kind of a test.
Also, I’ve changed my lightbox plug-in. You can now click on an image and page through larger versions of the image. It auto-scales to your browser.

Wow. You made a very good work with Unity Mei. Your pictures are warm, and really beautiful. Congratulation for this shooting! I am impressed, but not amazed, because I always like the style of your pictures (so warm, with beautiful colors^^)
Yeah, I usually make the photos a bit warm in color temperature. I use daylight bulbs and then mess it up by making stuff a bit warmer.
And d’oh it’s Mei and not May like I have it? Oh well.
Great pics (as always) but your pics on white are making her looks better than she is ^^ . But love the kinda “soft” effect on those pics
Love the lightbox plug-in , works great .
So yeah , nice job and thanks for the link
btw , do you use one lens or two for pictures ? Always the same one ?
Most of the time it’s a 35mm macro lens. Recently, I also started using my 70-150mm zoom for full body shots, since it only goes to .21 magnification. The narrow angle of view makes it easier to light the background. Before when using the 35mm macro for full body shots, I really needed to light up a large section of the background, but now I don’t have to worry as much now that I use the telezoom for that.
I think just Unity May 08 and Unity May 09 used the 70-150mm (PNG doesn’t save the EXIF, which is kind of annoying).
How does she stand on that stand. It doesn’t seem like it would be too stable? Great pics as always though
.
Metal post through her foot. Her leg is made of hard plastic instead of PVC, so she’ll stay upright. It looks scary and if you jump around near her she sort of wobbles on the stand, but stays secure.
Nice photos as usual, especially the ones with white background, it’s so white
I am using a 1920 x 1200 LCD as well, so yaeh know how you feel. I find Flickr medium size photos too small as well, it’s ok when I post it in my blog, but feel small when I post it in forum. And the large version is a bit too big for forum. Would really like to have something in between those two sizes.
Yes, people have been asking Flickr for years to have another size in between Medium and Large. Or at least the ability to have a choice in medium size.
Awesome photos. Can’t say much other than your blog is #1 in the figure website list.
How exactly do we page for the larger versions of the image in lightbox?
Click on one of the pictures and javascript will blow it up then, hover your mouse near the left or right edge of the picture and a navigation arrow will appear.
Great shots, the ones in the dark really make a warm feeling to her and bring out her eyes, really match the mood of the figure.
The white is great as well,it really shows her kimono, and it has a warm effect to it as well ^^ would of been cool if you could have covered up the base(after showing a photo of it of course
that way she would look like she’s flying/hovering, just a thought ;D
Great review ^^
Oh I definitely should have done that. If I had more time (did it in the morning before leaving for work), I probably would have.
Whoa, totally love the warm and glowy effects on yours pics, which makes me even more impatient to get May ^o^ GSC rocks!! (and so do you)
Thanks, always good to know someone thinks you rock!
This figure is really colorful and full of action, although that action could turn to be a problem in the future (knocking on wood three times) lets hope not though
.
I’m always optimistic about these things, though I’ve been lucky.
The main reason I passed is her shear size. Given the fact I love her pose and her attractive and colourful wings are very warming she gonna remain in the box which defeats the purpose in getting and/or displaying ur lovely figures in the first place.
As always, lovely shoot. ^^
One way to save space is to place kneeling or sitting figures in front of her so that they can go right up to her base so she doesn’t take up as much room as she does.
I totally adore the Flower Patterns on her costume. They did an awesome job in that department.I like the posure combined with her facial expression aswell.
Eroge have mighty fine character designs most of the time. Its always a joy to see them turned into PVC.I prefer this kinda girl over the cutesy-type though ^^
She’s cute too! She’d probably have more of a scowl if she heard you.
Wow, the colors are so so nice. <3 Really beautiful figurine and very nicely taken shots. ^^;
The color so totally makes it.
She looks quite nice, especially with the action pose. She looks like she’d wobble a bit if placed on a shelf like mine. I really like the base and the flower pattern. Eroge characters indeed make awesome figures these days.
My apartment is on the second floor, so it’s not solid. Every time I walk quickly by my desk or plop down on my chair, May does a little wobble dance. So yeah, if you think it’s going to happen it probably will.
Looks “dramatic” but too blur for my taste this time around….
nice review!
ooh you put dreammy effect on the pic
but I like your sharp photos more!
Great review and photos! I just got Mei (or May) today and absolutely love what GSC did with her. Thanks for sharing.
Man, seeing your pictures make me regret not getting her more!!!
Awesome pics, super rats!
