Now is actually a great time if you’re catching up on series from the last couple of years. For me though, I’d already bought them on the first run. There’s maybe one or two I’d get, but those are the ones Best Buy wouldn’t stock, like To Heart and with the exception of figures, it takes me a while to get something from an online store.

I completely agree. There’s really nothing new and exciting coming out. I’d say with the current economic state, localization companies have less resources available for licensing, unlike a few years ago where it seemed they were licensing every hot new anime franchise coming out. Bandai Entertainment is delaying several of their licensed titles, and ADV Films seems to have all but thrown in the towel. Funimation seems to be the only studio doing anything lately.

I’ve taken advantage of the lowered price of anime lately and bought up a couple boxsets, including Witchblade and Air. I’m considering buying Ergo Proxy and a few others, but aside from that, there really aren’t a lot of new series out, unlike a few years ago where I’d be following five or six series at a time.

I understand what you’re saying, I’ve also found that I’ve been spending less time and money on new anime as of late. It seems that there’s less coming out, and a lot of what is coming out are “safe” series that cater to specific fanbases that are likely safer for them. Unfortunately the series that cater to those groups don’t interest me, so I’ve been finding fewer and fewer shows that I find appealing on the shelves.

It also doesn’t help that I’m a person who likes to shop first hand. I buy online when I know I want something and it’s easier or cheaper online. But if there’s an anime I’m interested in, and a movie I’m interested in, but I can only find the anime online while the movie is at my local Best Buy; then honestly I’ll go and buy the movie. With reductions in anime stock at stores like Best Buy, that is definitely effecting my anime buying habits.

I guess the older you get the easier you get satiated by the Animemarket since alot material is recycled and the more youve seen the more you get bored by it.
Since you only buy licensed Series on DVD its especiially difficult to find interesting shows.It either takes a long time until they get licensed or they dont get at all due to it beeing niche market.

That reminds me, I still have to finish watching some of the DVDs that I had bought a while back – Noir Vol.7, Code Geass Vol. 6, and Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 3.

Opened but never played. Still need to complete FMA and stopped buying Bleach after Vol. 11…I still haven’t even bought the movie yet.

I’ve been meaning to get into Gurren Lagaan but still haven’t. It looks pretty good, enough for me to buy the entire series. I also want to get Death Note but it’s not really a priority. I have enough enough DVDs already and already have set plans of buying series that I’m just waiting (and hoping) to be licensed.

Apart from Clannad Vol. 2 to be out next month, I’m only looking forward to the Lucky Star and Fullmetal Alchemist OVAs to be released.

There also hasn’t been too many new series that sparked my interest to watch subbed either. I guess that just means more money in the pocket.

Well…here…not cheap…expensive and I don’t I have enough in my current budget to buy any anime DVDs till Anime North in May…
I might get one…
The last anime DVD I did buy was Lucky Star OVA which is still in it’s plastic wrap…I need to open it…

I think I also will prefer to watch a show how it is supposed to be seen than in a small rectangle for free.

-We should at some point all descend on casa Moy!

-Nice thing about the new FMA is it will be simulcast, so I’ll have no problems watching it.

-Yeah, I get pre-occupied too. I somehow forgot that I actually have about 5-6 dvds I could have watched. Really, this is all to hide the fact that my usual 4-6 hours a week that I spend watching anime was in fact eaten up by playing Persona 4.

I have no idea why I am always pre-occupied, but with a small backlog yet to start, and watching around 2 anime currently airing, I never tend to find myself bored or got nothing to watched.

And being so used to watching low quality videos from tapes, VCDs, and streamed content from Internet, I don’t complain about small screens and low quality. Maybe I just got so adapted to it these days ^^;

And Joost is not available in my area (Hong Kong) when I was curious and checked the link out LOL

With quite a few DVD boxsets I have from the past year and many backlogged series on my HD, I always tend to find something to watch. For most new series, I usually wait when the batch is done so half the time, I’m a season behind.
