The other day I logged onto eBay to search for scaled down things I could use to make these figure photo sets a little more interesting, or at least to break up the white or black paper backdrop that I use a lot. I stumbled upon a 1:6 scale Vespa. Wouldn’t it be convenient if I had a 1:6 figure of a certain bass guitar weilder? What it did remind me of is the 1:6 Mai Tokiha from Max Factory, released early in 2006. With the way Mai was posed in that figure, I thought I’d be able to fit her over the Vespa and make it look as if she was just about ready to ride, so I went and ordered Mai as well. I was really looking forward to posing Mai standing over the Vespa, but she is fused to her base, so it didn’t all go according to plan. Taking pictures of this figure with the Vespa was a blast. It helps that this figure sculpted by Chieri has a great sense of energy and positive attitude.
This is such a great prop that I’m starting a series of pictures called “Vespateen” since I have a few 1:6 figures I can use.
Anyway, this was a short figure post. Since it’s an older figure, I thought nobody would really get much use out of a review. Wow. I actually saw a few 1/12 or 1/10 motorcycles.. plenty and dirt cheap. But spending money which can be used on more figurines on props seems a little excessive for me.

Yeah, it’s silly to buy props just for pictures, but I display the figures with the props, so it’s not a total waste (okay it is, but I need to justify my poor spending choices). The Vespa takes up the space of two figures and I’m starting to run out of shelf space, so that’s the bigger problem.
Where can I buy these? they are so cool.
The Vespa I got off Ebay, search on “1:6 vespa” and you’ll get about a dozen auctions.
The Mai figure is like 9-months past release date, which means harder to find. I got Mai at: http://www.tisinc99.com/
I usually import the anime figures from Japan rather than wait for a distributor in the US to pick them up, just because I’m impatient.
