Yeah, I definitely agree that of what I was able to hear of the English vocal cast, Chiaki was the most appropriate sounding. Never been a fan of dubs in any language, though, so I’m probably not the best judge.

Tokikake was indeed a great movie, other than just bringing you back, it was trying to show us the importance of not abusing any special powers or techniques, and to cherish people because you never know when they will be gone.

It was quite a good movie indeed, and it probably hit me more than 5cm did, to be honest. I’ve had the good fortune to see it in 35mm, but I was horribly sick at the time, so I unfortunately was not able to appreciate it as well as I could have.

Thank you for sharing this, I will definitely watch this one now!

I’ve really gotta watch this one back some time, along with 5cm, because I know I loved both movies. It’s a great romance, but it’s also so much more than that.

I have never seen the dub version, but this movie is one of my new favorites, very well done. Now I want to see the dub XD I’m going to add you to my blogroll now too, I don’t know why I didn’t before.

Nice review. Have been considering giving this one a look, so the review definitely helps.

I find it interesting how others also pair up this movie with ’5cm Per Second’ as it really reminded me of it when I was watching. It’s equally interesting that this is somewhat reflected in sales as well. Amazon Japan published their 2008 sales list of top 10 Anime, and as far as Blu-Ray sales ‘Time’ was ranked 4th with ’5cm’ right behind it at 5th.

Personally I love both movies but ’5cm’ still holds the top spot, though I didn’t like the ending compared to ‘Time’.

The dub was amazing and Makoto’s voice matched up to her personality, I thought. There was one instance where the flaps and voice weren’t coordinated (one of the conversations between Makoto and her Aunt) but it was acceptable.

I would have liked to see more of a romantic connection especially near the ending, then again that’s just the hopeless romantic in me talking.

I watched this movie quite some time ago :) LOVED it from the beginning to the end. For only my personal taste, I liked it better than ’5cm’ maybe when I watched ’5cm’ I was bit tired… so I should try to watch it again ..haha

I’m not a fan of Ocean dubs, at all. i really hope they really did do a good job with this film.

So it is a Ghibli movie? I stayed at the anime section of a local media shop and looked at the movie which standed near Howl’s Moving Castle, but didn’t know whether it is Miyazaki’s movie or not.

I’ve heard a lot of people liked this movie. Gonna have to check this one out for sure when I get the chance.

    I LOVED that movie a lot !

The story is really nice and i’m going to watch it again just for one scene ^^

One thing that impressed me about the movie is how they are able to make use of cliche, overused storylines (time traveling etc) and be able to turn it into something original. The drama scenes, too, are “been there done that” concepts, but they manage to still make it captivating
