Code Geass — I thought the Sunrise train wreck happens at the end of the series? These first four episodes sure have that same wrecked-up feeling minus knowing the characters bouncing round in messed up pacing land. Good thing Kallen is nice to look at and stuff conveniently blows up at a healthy pace or I’d be a little more antagonistic toward the show. While I’m not quite on board this train, I don’t see myself getting off of it either.
In spite of the action packed plot twisted first four episodes, I didn’t really get much from the story that I can chew on in between dvds. The bad guys seem so comically arrogant that they diminish Lelouche — can’t quite feel the greatness there when our hero’s enemies seem so dumb. Still, his whole deal looks like it could be interesting. The main draw for me to continue, other than I didn’t dislike it, is “everyone” saying Code Geass is a fun ride — that — and Kallen does it for me. CC is cute too, but I’ll take Kallen in the CC vs. Kallen who would you rather do poll.
Pretty people can cover for a lot. It’s not just Lelouche, Kallen, and CC, but all the beautiful people designed by CLAMP and that lavish school they all go back to after slumming it out for a bit. Draws me in, even when my brain tells me Code Geass cheats on the other fronts. I’m selling myself out to the glitz and tits, the pretty people over “real” meaning, which is always fine by me.
As far as the dub goes, it’s not really clicking with me just as the plot just doesn’t feel that cohesive. I have no complaints about Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouche. There was the requisite, “JYB again?!”, but he usually wipes that thought out of my head after a few episodes. McGlynn owns as Cornelia even though she has like four lines.
I love Karen Strassman, but I’m not getting along with her as Kallen as much as I hoped. I was a little surprised that they cast her as Kallen, but it is nice to hear a familiar actress voice a different type of role.
While I enjoyed Code Geass, I didn’t love it enough to watch it again in Japanese yet.

I so LOVE Code Geass
Very fun to watch and always LOTS of things happen in it .
First season is not a train wreck , at least not too much , it’s still logical , but the second season is totally crazy . But even with that , it’s still fun and awesome to watch ^^
The first season is actually not bad. It’s the 2nd season thats crap. I dropped that early on.
The whole show is a train wreck; a train wreck of ridiculous plot twists, deus ex machina, characters killed off and brought back on whims, etc. and I enjoyed season 1 and am enjoying R2 for exactly that reason. It’s like watching a train wreck, but no one real gets hurt.
Also, there are tons of fun “OWNED!” moments that I keep watching the show to see. However, neither season is anything I’d ever buy to watch again.
The show is not a trainwreck, it’s just really unusual in how it tells it’s story. It seems to like showing the effect before the cause followed by the reason for all of it to begin with each and every arc. It takes some getting used to, but once you do, unless you just follow along with what everybody seems to be claiming then it’s not a trainwreck. It’s just plain fun.
Though some parts of R2 will require you to suspend your disbelief to it’s very limits and it’s not something most people can handle. Especially if they havent’ had a lot of experience in melodramatic mecha series.
I love Code Geass for the entertainment value, not for its writing or depth. It’s just a fun show to watch: something crazy happens every episode, the animation is bright and stylized, and the shitstorm afterwards on all the blogs/forums are just hilarious to read.
Also, Kallen is the greatest CG character ever, hands down. C.C. has her moments but I empathize and admire Kallen much more. Guren FTW!
Season 1 was pretty tame to me, although the pace is still considerably faster than the average anime. If you think this is bad, wait ’til you see what happens later xP
There’s definitely a part of me that thinks the writing/pacing is bad, but the other side says who cares! This is fun.
code geass is pretty good and the girls are hot
First season was great, and Pizza Hut supported the Rebellion back then!
Now, do you even see them in the show? Lol.
Finish it for the lulz dude, other than that I really have nothing else to say, at least as to 2nd season. Plus Shin’s epics are good.
What Garstad already said.
Saves me/you from whatever I would have typed.
Code Geass is a show that makes little amount of sense in terms of plot twists, yet I still find it really fun to watch.
I loved the first season, the 2nd season started off shaky and iffy but towards halfway in, it gets pretty damn good.
Season One was awesome.
I really loved it
CC is so lovely,I like her voice and her personality
Season Two is some kind of weird, too many characters and too much turns in the story.
I really enjoy Code Geass, for despite its jaw dropping ‘wtf’ moments, you get equally powerful ‘wtf NO DON’T STOP THERE’ moments as well. Lucky for you, I assume you’re dealing with the DVD, so you don’t have to wait seven days if it cliffhangs at the end of an episode.
C.C. is <3 Love the straight jacket look.
It’s a fun watch, and it’s good to shout out “HAIL BRITANNIA” randomly. As for it feeling like a train wreck, yeah it does get that at times, but it’s a fun little wreck you just can’t take your eyes away from. I’m assuming you got vol. 1 at the moment and have yet to watch the even more absurd stuff on vol. 2.
The only thing that I just didn’t like about this show is Suzaku. I don’t know if he is a stupid military man, or just in denial all the time.
at first, I thought CG was brilliant… but it soon became so dramatic that the events and plot-holes start to become ridiculous.
i love code geass, but i think sometimes the characters take things to far. Like Rolo killing Shirley and Suzaku taking away Nunally and Kallen. Sorry if i spoiled anything for anyone.
geasses are so cool more than sharingan
