Temporarily switching from the Comvatar comment icon to Gravatar via the Easy Gravatar 1.1 plugin. One nice thing about Gravatar is you can keep your icon across any blog that is Gravatar enabled. The downside is few people have one registered (register one!). I’ll see how it goes for a couple of weeks before deciding which comment avatar system to use.

Do you know of some alternative to Comvatars? It works for me (I’m using WP 2.3.1) but I’d like to update to something a bit more recent.
An alternative to Comvatars as in the admin uploads avatars and the system chooses randomly each time somebody posts a comment.
I don’t know of one. Comvatar hasn’t had an update in like two years, but it still works fine for me as well. I’m just seeing which one works out better Comvatar or Gravatar.
Actually, the Comvatar plug-in is a little broken in 2.3.1. It seems that whenever a new commenter also leaves a URL and hasn’t registered a Comvatar it breaks.
I have to admit I kinda liked the way you had it set up before. Atleast there was less chance of people abusing the Gravatar PG option etc. but eh
And of course, here I was thinking I’d set one up, but being the un-natural blond I am, I had not ~_~
Had to actually confirm the avatar to this email address *grumps*
My main reason for checking out Gravatar was the Comvatar plugin doesn’t work right in WordPress 2.3.1. I’m still not sure the exact reasons why it doesn’t work right, but it seems to malfunction when the commenter hadn’t posted a comment before the upgrade to 2.3.1. Seeing the broken image links just drove me crazy.
