If Strike Witches were an RPG, Yoshika is the party cleric, which is usually a pretty boring class if you decide to specialize in healing and buffing armor class like she pretty much does. It’s great for survival and sweet when everyone is bloodied, but seems low on the Awesome! Eila pretty much nailed it in episode 6. Well, in this episode (SW2 ep8), Yoshika changes classes in a rare moment of rage and becomes a runepriest, a healer that can throw down and kick major ass. The trigger, of course, involves things that happen to Lynne. What a cute declaration of their partnership.
A good episode.
The Unorganized List
At this point, I’m assuming you’ve already seen SW2 ep8:
- Does this mean Miyafuji is elite now? She does the one move kill that she and Sakamoto talked about in the beginning of the episode, but in her own way using her shield, which has been described as the strongest in the 501st.
- I guess a part of me briefly rolled my eyes at how Yoshika gets an equipment upgrade, but this is Strike Witches and groaning at the cheese is part of the ride.
- What’s up with Perinne going soft? I suppose she couldn’t be stand-offish forever and grows to accept Yoshika. We’ll probably soon find out what brings this change in attitude, but Perinne was good for some third wheel comedy. I’ll miss that.
- If Strike Witches were an RPG, which three characters would be your main party?

I’d go Yoshika, Trude, and Lynette. Yoshika can tank and heal, Lynette pummels the Neuroi’s weaknesses, and Trude lays the beatdown.

Barkhorn appears a lot in any hypothetical team I’d put together. Hard to argue against Trude.
Erica, Yoshika and Sanya.
Main Attacker/Whirlwind Attack User, Defender/Healer, Supporter/Scout.
For a general strike force where you don’t know the situation you’re flying into I like this team a lot.
I’d go with Minna, Barkhorn and Lynette for the tactical reason that I just like those three girls the most. xD
It was a nice Strike Witches episode even though you could see the major plot events coming a mile away and they were rather cheesy. A shame though that the mock battle skipped on showing any real aerial moves onscreen like the first season often did.

Well, that’s not a bad reason at all for your main party. I find I do this as well, even if I know a certain party configuration is considered the best, I tend to pick the characters I like, unless they all happen to be redundant in a way that doesn’t kill things in the face faster. With Strike Witches I’d actually be sorting out powers, strengths, and weaknesses since I like just about all the characters.
You pose an interesting question.
Since I like to play it safe Miyafuyi is in for her healing and buffing, Sanya for support with my third character variable depending on the situation.
Barkhorn when I need a heavy hitter, Lynette for snipping, etc.
I tend to like riskier party setups that tend to consider a healer an inefficient use of a party spot. Defeat the opposition before you need to bother with healing. Of course, you run into problems with these parties when you get blindsided/surprised. Naturally, when there’s no reset button or save point to go back to when the uber striker party gets wiped, someone like Miyafuji goes up in value.
I will choice Barkhorn with Jet Striker unit. Go for all-out-attack!
