Here is my favorite example so far of how I see the absurd premise of Chu-Bra!! creating parody with overused paint-by-numbers scenes in anime. In a flashback during episode 5, Nayu’s grandmother comforts the crying five year old Nayu, and gives the silliest take on the “I will protect you” scene that I’ve viewed:
Hilarious. If “I’ll always protect you with the underwear I design” is not making fun of this scene and/or panties, panties, panties, I have no idea what possibly could. I can’t see Chu-Bra!! without seeing parody.
There are many scenes like this in the show. Here is another one made into something more ridiculous with underwear:
My previous post on Chu-Bra!! was basically an if not for the fanservice post. For all the heart it has, Chu-Bra!! pours on a fanservice that many feel is inappropriate, gone too far, caters to a crowd that shouldn’t be catered to, but I think that’s what makes Chu-Bra!! ripe as parody, if not satire. Add the age of the characters, both the mature and immature treatment of underwear, and the character’s obsession with underwear, Chu-Bra!! feels like it could be lightly satirizing the panties, panties, panties among other things in anime, while also delivering ecchi goods.
That’s what I tell myself, at least. I’m sure that the main idea of the show isn’t to poke fun of fanservice and anime, but writers like to stick all kinds of things in there and parts of Chu-Bra!! feel something like that is going on. The writers having fun where they can and all. It might explain the unexpectedly good writing for a fanservice show.

Chu-Bra was a bit too much fan service for me lol. I watched the first episode but haven’t picked it up since. I think its the art as well, it doesn’t appeal to me too much. Though I can understand where you’re coming in terms of the storyline.
